COMMUNITY CONSULTATION EVENT | FARR WIND FARM EXTENSION & NADARA

FARR COMMUNITY HALL > 9.30AM TO 5PM ON TUE 16 JUNE 2026

STRATHDEARN HUB > 11.30AM TO 6.30PM ON WED 17 JUNE 2026

What’s proposed > Farr Wind Farm from 2030

Extracted from Nadara’s Website:

Farr Wind Farm is around 8 miles south of the city of Inverness and has enough capacity to power 20% of the homes in the Highlands. The current planning consent will expire in December 2030. As a result of assessment work which has been undertaken in relation to Nadara’s fleet of operational wind turbines and their ability to operate for longer than was originally envisaged, there is an opportunity for Farr Wind Farm to continue to generate clean electricity beyond the current consent expiry date.

At it stands > Farr Wind Farm in 2026

Extracted from Nadara’s Website:

Installed capacity 92 MW | Energy produced 252,253 MWh/year | CO2 reductions 113,009 t/year

How we calculate metrics for our sites in the UK > Nadara

Extracted from Nadara’s Website:

  • ‘Energy produced (MWh/year)’, ‘CO2 reductions (per year) in tonnes’ and ‘Homes Powered Equivalent’ data are calculations based on industry standard methodologies taken from https://www.renewableuk.com/energypulse/ukwed/
  • ‘Energy produced (MWh/year)’ is calculated by multiplying the installed capacity in MW by the number of hours in a year (8,760) and then multiplying this by DESNZ’s long-term average load factor for (onshore + offshore) wind (31.3%) expressed as a fraction of 1 (0.313).
  • ‘CO2 reductions (per year) in tonnes’ is calculated using DESNZ’s “all non-renewable fuels” emissions statistic of 448 tonnes of carbon dioxide per GWh of electricity supplied in the Digest of UK Energy Statistics (July 2025) Table 5.14 (“Estimated carbon dioxide emissions from electricity supplied”).
  • Carbon reduction is calculated by multiplying the total amount of electricity generated by wind per year by the number of tonnes of carbon which fossil fuels would have produced to generate the same amount of electricity.
  • ‘Homes Powered Equivalent’ is calculated using the most recent statistics from DESNZ showing that annual GB average domestic household consumption is 3,323kWh (as of December 2025, updated annually).
  • RenewableUK calculates homes powered as: number of megawatts installed, multiplied by DESNZ’s “all wind” (onshore + offshore) load factor expressed as a fraction of 1 (0.313), multiplied by number of hours in a year (8,760), divided by average annual domestic electricity consumption expressed in MWh (3.323).
