SCATA – Strathnairn Community Access & Transport Association

SCATA – Strathnairn Community Access and Transport Association

Formed in 2004 SCATA (Strathnairn Community Access and Transport Association) has a long and rich history of service within the Strathnairn community.  SCATA exists as a charity to provide transport services for individuals, local clubs and groups, sports groups and community initiatives, Farr School and other charities. The Strathnairn community is poorly served by commercial transport links, SCATA provides a vital link for members of our community.

The service is free for residents of the Strathnairn Community and can be booked via the SCATA Co-ordinator.  Regular use of the bus is for shopping trips, trips to the community café, the Friendship group, trips to Otago, youth sports trips, children’s birthday parties and medical appointments.  All options for transport will be considered. To book the bus please contact Lee-Anne Lumsden (SCATA co-ordinator) on 07570 824043 or email strathnairncommunitytransport@gmail.com

The service is currently provided by two vehicles:

A minibus which can take 8 passengers and a driver and a Peugeot Horizon Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. (WAV).

This new addition is a comfortable and a spacious four seat plus one wheelchair or mobility scooter vehicle with ramp, electric winch, parking sensors, and a reversing camera.  Its compact size makes it a dream to drive & with that we hope to encourage lots of new Volunteer Drivers to join our fantastic group of local hero’s.

So much work has gone into planning and sourcing this little gem of a car that a massive thank you must be noted to both the Scata trustees & members for their tireless dedication and belief in the cause.

Special thanks of course goes out to the Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund for funding the purchase of what we know will be a fantastic and treasured Community asset for many years to come.

We have a great group of volunteers but it would be great to expand the pool of drivers so we can provide even more trips. If you could spare some time and would like to join us a volunteer driver please contact  Lee-Anne Lumsden (SCATA Co-ordinator).  SCATA has also recently received funding from SCBF for a smaller wheelchair access car so our demand will be increasing.

As a charity SCATA is managed by a group of trustees. If you have any comments or ideas on how we can improve and increase the SCATA service we would love to hear them.
