SMI Singing

History: The Singing Group Evolves

From November 2016 to May 2017 the singing group was led by Valerie Gage. We were then led by Fiona Bowie up to December 2017, and 2018 to 2022 with an experienced choir leader, Jessica Bates. We have been singing a variety of genres, from Scottish traditional to Blugrass to African lullabies to Reindeer calling! Our current singing group leader is Julie Harvey, and the emphasis is on singing for fun and to feel good!

Singing for Children

Friday afternoons in Farr Hall have seen the start of regular children’s singing groups with our fabulous new SMI tutor, Julie Harvey. There are two age groups who have 30 minute sessions with a fee of £2 per session payable in advance.

Singing Around – 2-2.30pm – P1-P5 age range

Just Sing – 2.40-3.10pm – P6 to Secondary school

Adults – Sing and Feel Good!

Adult singing sessions start again weekly for six weeks from Wednesday 31st August in Farr Hall 8-9pm. With our new singing group leader, Julie Harvey, we will be exploring our voices again and welcome new members – no singing experience necessary! The first six weeks will be free and a chance to discuss the sessions going forwards. There will be a small weekly payment from November onwards to cover SMI costs.
