Galileo Empower & Lynemore Wind Farm | Dec 2025 Update & Design Iteration
Galileo Empower wrote to Strathnairn Community Council, on 18 Dec 2025, to advise the community that a revised proposal will be submitted to the Energy Consents Unit in January 2026.
Proposed changes which come through this design iteration:

What this means in practicality:
- A reduced number of turbines are now proposed, dropping from 14 to 12 in number.
- Turbines 04 & 05 are removed from the proposal.
- This does not address planning blight nor LVIA from Culloden Battlefield and other key cultural and local viewpoints (including the tourist gateway of the A9); and this is still a concern.
- A reduction of 2 turbines will lessen the impact from Invernarnie & Balnafoich, but by no means eliminate it.
- There is no change to height/scale of remaining 12 turbines proposed at height 200m; everything to date locally – on existing and operational windfarms – is at the reduced height of 100m.
- The access track is changed, and rerouted away from A9 and neighbouring settlement of Lynebeg.
- The construction compound has been upscaled and moved closer to the A9, replacing two smaller construction compounds (previously proposed), further up the track.
- An access rerouting is likely to address concerns by local residents living at the foot of the site, and lessen the impact from the A9, but we will ask the developers for clarification over this.
- Again whilst this is a concession to local residents of Lynebeg, and will lessen the impact, it by no means eliminates it.
Galileo have requested a meeting for early 2026, as part of continued engagement, and SCC will take them up on this.
This is intended to keep the community informed.
SCC will seek a date / time which works for a majority of the community. This will be set up for late January or early February 2026.
