‘Glen Close-ta-hame’ | New wind farm approved on Edinburgh’s Pentland Hills
As part of Gillian Martin’s plans to forge forward with renewables and onshore wind – as Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy – Edinburgh City Council and the ECU has today confirmed approval of 14 no. 250m high next-generation turbines for the Pentland Hills. The plans have been passed in full with on-site BESS and all associated infrastructure.
“It’s a win-win for communities” declared Ms Martin, “delivering jobs, tackling climate change and increasing energy security where it is needed most through bringing generation closer to consumption. We are also delighted that this development will be visible across the capital and resonate with all over the commitment this government is making to the decarbonisation of Scotland’s energy supply; in adopting a range of technologies, supporting home-grown industries and finding solutions”
