Application for Community Benefits Funding awarded by Union Technical Services Limited for the Energy Efficiency Scotland: Area Based Scheme (EES:ABS). Before completing the  form, please take time to read the Community Benefit Funding criteria.

Community Benefit Fund Criteria

  • Applications can be accepted from third sector (voluntary or community groups), community councils, schools and registered charities within Highland Council area.
  • Applications which relate to energy efficiency, sustainability and work towards net zero will be prioritised, however the fund will consider applications from other perspectives where a clear benefit to the local community/ organisation is demonstrated.

Please note: The funding cannot be used to cover running costs of items/projects

Example projects are equipment for schools or community open spaces/building upgrades for lighting/commercial equipment for community projects

Checks will be made to confirm land ownership/liability status etc

  • The maximum grant funding available per project is £2,500.
  • Grant awards will be treated as one-off contributions.
  • Applications must be submitted to energy-efficient-highland@highland.gov.uk by Friday 30th January 2026.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by no later than Friday 20th February 2026.
  • Submissions will be considered by a cross-sector panel of evaluators with the final decision at the discretion of Union Technical, the fund provider.
