RES first announced plans for Carn na Saobhaidh in November 2024 and wrote to the Community Council to introduce the proposals. Since then RES have been carrying out studies on the plans - RES first proposed 29 turbines at a tip height of up to 200 m. Following further studies and investigation, RES will present plans for 24 turbines at a tip height of up to 200 m, with an overall site generating capacity of 172.8 MW.

Getting involved ahead of a full submission to the Planning Authority and Energy Consents Unit (ECU) is the most influential stage of a major energy infrastructure project. If the local community looks to have a greater say, and influence conditions or design, this is one of the key times to engage in the development. All welcome.
