SNCC Monthly Meeting

Strathnairn Community Council (SNCC) 

Strathnairn Community Council are the core community liaison group between the local community (Strathnairn) and the local authority (The Highland Council) over all community concerns (on services, roads, education, welfare, etc) & planning matters (from large scale infrastructure works to local development and local place plans). SNCC Monthly meetings are cross-community and inclusive events: Chaired by SNCC, and attended by local Councillors (elected members), representatives from the core community groups (SCBF, Farr Hall & Strathnairn Hall Committees, etc), local estates & other business interests, plus residents as members of the community.

All are welcome.

Through the monthly meetings and other forms of business operation (website, social media, email, works of the projects advisor etc) SNCC can voice community concerns with the appropriate bodies, increase local awareness on development or changes coming through, keep the community informed on local issues that matter to you most, and fight for local rights and services.  This is through working collaboratively as a cross-community group, and acting as a catalyst or conduit.

Where? SNCC Monthly meetings are held in Farr Community Hall.  They are simultaneously broadcast live; so there is no barrier to attending. The link to join is published on the head of the Agenda. The agenda is circulated 1 week in advance (and can be requested by anyone), and the minutes are first checked (post meeting), and then open to all to consult.

When? Every third Monday of the month, from 7.30pm.  Some months this event may be preceded by a Developer Engagement Session (at their request) or by a core HC team etc.  These are typically timetabled for 0.5 hour before the main event to inform or update the community on a specific topic when it needs a focused but open community session.  Again all are welcome to attend.

Highland Council & HC’s Citizen Engagement Platform

Highland Council has just launched its new on-line engagement portal, available at Citizen engagement platform | The Highland Council

This will supplement but not replace other methods of engagement and allows a much more interactive experience with the facility for creation of ideas, using mapping to drop ‘pins’, voting etc.  One of the most helpful features is that registered users can select the geographic and/or sectoral areas they are interested in and will then receive notifications when there is new activity under these themes or when there are updates.  There is no requirement to register on the site, but more functions are available to those who choose to do so.

At the time of writing (in June 26) HC just have the one active consultation, but this site will now be the primary on-line site used for all our consultation and engagement.  This will include statutory consultations such as school closures, traffic orders etc through to wider studies and more general engagement.
