Loch Kemp Ness Weir II Consultation Thurs 6 November 4–7.30pm Caledonian Canal Centre, Fort Augustus

When

6 November 2025
4:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Event Type

Statera Energy (UK) Limited is proposing improvements to the existing Ness Weir (Dochfour or Telford Weir), located where Loch Dochfour, the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal meet at Dochgarroch, about 7 km southwest of Inverness.

The Ness Weir II project aims to:

  • Raise and strengthen parts of the weir and embankments
  • Install new control gates
  • Create new fish passes
These changes are designed to help manage Loch Ness water levels more effectively, support renewable energy, protect habitats, and reduce flood risk.

Public Consultation Events

Before submitting a planning application, Statera is holding a first round of community consultation events to share details of the project and gather feedback:

Thursday 6 November 4.00–7.30pm. Caledonian Canal Centre, Fort Augustus (PH32 4AU)

Everyone is welcome to attend, view the exhibition materials, and speak directly with the project team.

From 4 November, all information and feedback forms will also be available online at  www.nessweir2.co.uk

Comments can be submitted at the events, via the website, by email (contact@nessweir2.co.uk), or by post to:
Cavendish Consulting, 220 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, G2 5SG
Deadline for comments: 25 November 2025

Please note: This is not yet a planning application. Feedback at this stage will inform Statera’s final proposals before they submit to The Highland Council.
